It was not the cells who were the first organised forms of life but smaller organisms which wrapped themselves in lipid skins during the game of the enzymes and molecules and which developed to little chemical factories. Today, we find them within the cell where they continue to maintain their interaction, that was attuned to one another in the primordial waters, filling the cell with life. Consequently, the original unit of life, the cell, is a complex apparatus. Actually all higher organisms are only increases in quantity, an addition of functions and synergetic effects. For that reason we will study the organelles in this chapter and will be able to understand the structure of the cell as the “smallest” unit of life...
